Aġenzija Żgħażagħ North Youth Service - December in Review
December has been a time for wrapping up, not just gifts but also a number of activities to close 2019 with a bang.

Giovanni Curmi Higher Secondary School Youth Hub
It’s Christmas time...that means it’s time to decorate! Youth workers together with the young people who regularly visit the Youth Hub, worked together to create the best possible Christmas atmosphere for all our visitors. There was a lot of enthusiasm for this initiative with several young people joining us in decorating the youth hub. Christmas carols and music inevitably accompanied us throughout the whole time.

As part of our commitment towards the community, Aġenzija Żgħażagħ North Youth Workers teamed up with the GCHSS Wellbeing students in organising a food-bank at the Youth Hub. The aim of this initiative is to raise awareness that there are people who lack basic needs, including food. And this is why it was decided that all food collected as part of this initiative will go to an orphanage. We would like to thank all the young people and staff that donated food for this good cause.

The regional youth workers also designed and implemented a Domestic Violence Workshop. The aim of this workshop was to understand what domestic violence is. Following this, information on how to report such abuse was tackled.

Throughout this month, Ms. Rita Briffa from the Agency together with Ms. Johanna Briffa from GCHSS continued implementing the leadership programme. The purpose of this course is to provide young people with an award at level 3 including the following modules: Introduction to Leadership, Communicating Effectively, Strategic, Planning & Civic Responsibilities Active Citizenship.

Schools’ Programme
As part of Agenzija Zghazagh’s civic education programme – Young Parliamentarians #ejjewniddibattu, Malcolm Attard visited St.Clare’s College Pembroke to deliver a session about Pitching of Ideas. This educational session is the second one delivered in this school so far this scholastic year. Moreover, our involvement with the students who attend this school will continue with more Young Parliamentarians sessions next month.

Finally, from all of us at the North Youth Service,  all the very best for the festive season!
