The Young Parliamentarians programme kicked off at the Gozo College Secondary school on 8th January 2020 and Bishop’s Conservatory Secondary school in Gozo on 13th January 2020. In the first session, the young people had the opportunity to tackle public speaking skills, ahead of the #ejjewniddibattu final challenge which will be held in April. The young people are exploring different skills and tools which would equip them to be better prepared for debating, and more importantly, to encourage them to be more active citizens within society.

Young Parliamentarians Session 2 – Pitching of Ideas at Gozo College Secondary school

The second Young Parliamentarians session took place at the Gozo College Secondary School on Thursday 23rd January 2020. It was now time to tackle skills for ‘Pitching of Ideas’. The young people explored the concepts of Ethos, Pathos and Logos as techniques of persuasion which they could use to convince others to accept their ideas! During the session, the young people watched an example of how it works. They then chose a random object and an audience from a set of cards and prepared a speech during which they had to convince the audience to buy the object, with the use of Ethos, Pathos and Logos. The young people are building on skills to use for the debate challenge that will be held between participating schools in April.
