International Volunteers Day - 05th December 2017

International Volunteer Day (IVD) mandated by the UN General Assembly, is held each year on 05 December. It is viewed as a unique chance for volunteers and organizations to celebrate their efforts, to share their values, and to promote their work among their communities, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), United Nations agencies, government authorities and the private sector.

Through its handbook Create Change – Take Action, Aġenzija Żgħażagħ gives guidelines from where young people can start once they decide to become volunteers and closes the gap between them and organisations that host volunteers by making available information regarding voluntary work placements on offer to young people at the various organisations.

For those who do not find a local organisation or else who are adventurous enough to launch into volunteering abroad, EVS is one of the alternatives proposed. EVS gives young people aged 17-30 the possibility to send from 2 months to 1 year abroad as European volunteers to give a helping hand in various projects.

One such project which is currently available for EVS is the Educational Playground project in Lodz – Poland. Young people who are interested in EVS and are available between 01st February 2018 and 31st July 2018 are invited to look into the information documents, and apply by latest 20th December 2017, if interested to pursue further.
