Calls for Young Creatives Open

Aġenzija Żgħażagħ teams up with Arts Council Malta to launch collaborative intiatives for Young Creatives 2019-2020

Two Programmes for young creatives launched following renewed collaboration agreement of Aġenzija Żgħażagħ with Arts Council Malta for 2019-2020. This collaboration agreement links to the implementation of the National Youth Policy Towards 2020 as well as Arts Council Malta’s goals outlined in the Create2020 Strategy, with a particular focus on providing more opportunities for people be more active in society through creative engagement and development.

The initiative resulting from the previous agreement between the two entities, Artivisti, has been revisited and revamped to further encourage young artists to develop a focus on bringing change and leaving an impact on the wider society through art. Selected artists will be awarded a package of benefits and opportunities for a period of 18 months. These include a grant of €4,000 for their personal creative development, the services of a professional mentor to support them in their artistic career, participation in an artist-in-residency and networking opportunities with other ‘Artivisti’. The programme is aimed at artists aged between 18 and 24.

The newly developed Young Artist Development Programme (YADP) reflects the willingness to invest in the training and development of young artists. The programme is designed to provide the necessary incentive to Young Artists aged 14 to 17 to support participation in creative endeavours and opportunities for creative chosen applicants will receive further specialised training in their field and participate in an 18-month mentoring programme addressing the needs of young artists.

These programmes form part of the empowerment initiatives offered to young creatives by Aġenzija Żgħażagħ which include Taħżiż, Divergent Thinkers, Song Craft and funding support for the musical tuition of young people in band clubs.
