The Maltese Youth Agency, Aġenzija Żgħażagħ, is partnering with the Anna Lindh Euro-Mediterranean Foundation for Dialogue on the very first Young Mediterranean Voices Debate Forum.

Hosted in Malta from 7th to 9th July 2019, the Young Med Voices Forum will bring together young debaters from networks across the Southern Mediterranean region and Europe for a unique programme of intercultural debates, policy roundtables and virtual exchange with young leaders across the two shores of the Mediterranean. The motions of the debate will be shaped, on the one hand, ‘bottom-up’ as a result of the outcomes of grass-root youth-led debate taking place across the Mediterranean during the last year, and on the other, in alignment with policy-making and programming underway with regional institutions and international organisations.

Young Mediterranean Voices is the flagship debate programme connecting civil society, education and policy-makers across the Southern Mediterranean and Europe, launched in Malta in 2016 by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Federica Mogherini. It builds on its successful precursor phase, Young Arab Voices, that was established in 2011 by the Anna Lindh Foundation and the British Council in response to historic social uprisings across the Mediterranean, and is supported by the European Commission, Government of Finland and World Bank Group.

Profile of participants: The following criteria will be applied in the selection procedure:

- Proven experience as a debater, including active engagement in a debating society.

- Proven experience in debate competitions

- Interest in and proven capacity for engaging in policy advocacy

- Capacity and capability to reach out to local communities

- Interest in Euro-Mediterranean issues/culture

- Strong English speaker and comprehension

- Added value: Experience on virtual exchange debate/dialogue; familiarity with the Young Mediterranean Voices Programme; interest on diversity; knowledge of other languages of the Mediterranean.

Age range: 18 to 32 years old.

Countries for this expression of interest are: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Republic of Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and the UK.
